Meet Chloe Smith, founder of Forty8creates

Hey! Sure, I'm a Graphic Design graduate turned business woman from London. I drink far too much tea and spend far too much time on my Mac - I make it my aim to learn something new everyday.

What is Forty8Creates?

Forty8Creates is a creative agency working with small businesses to define, design and deliver a holistic branding approach.

How would you define ‘holistic branding’?

If you think of a web, your brand and its values are located at its core. Whether we are working internally with staff or externally with visuals, holistic branding helps your company unify its approach to ensure all aspects of your brand are geared toward reflecting those core values. Holistic branding is a process which will assess the current situation, look at the goals you have set and help you to reach them using various tactics… And magic.

Why did you decide to set up Forty8Creates?

I decided to set up Forty8Creates because I wanted to build an agency that gave the quality of a high end agency whilst staying friendly and entirely client focused like a small agency.

Tell us about some of the clients you’ve worked with so far.

Our clients vary. We like to help all business owners who are serious about the growth of their business. We have worked with clients from the travel industry - offering holidays to the far corners of the planet, to more local clients like a radio station, florists and bloggers. The variety keeps things fresh!

What do you enjoy most about running your own business?

What's not to love? The sleepless nights, the midnight oil, the multiple hats I have to wear, the endless feeling of tiredness...

I kid... I have a fascination for learning. Running your own business allows you to keep learning and moving forward with that knowledge. Accelerator allowed me to lay down strong foundations for Forty8Creates and ensured that I had access to the business essentials.

What advice would you offer other young entrepreneurs looking to set up their own business?

Don't wait. Jump right in and learn on the job. Education can only teach you so much. If you don't, someone else will! Oh and get a hobby...and a notepad. You'll need them to stay sane.

Do you have any unusual talents?

My forgetfulness is fairly impressive. Quiet a talent I think...

If you could change anything you’ve done so far with Forty8Creates, what would it be?

Hmmm. I like to think it has been a learning curve and everything I've done has been for a reason. I guess if I were to go back I would have made sure I enjoyed the initial stages more, setting up is stressful but exciting.

Where do you hope to see your Forty8creates in the next 12 months?

We have just taken a new office in Shoreditch so the team can be together. I hope that in 12 months we would have done well enough to extend that lease...so the next 12 months is all about scaling up even more than we have so far.
