Ember Snacks exceeds expectations with crowdfunding campaign

Ember Snacks, best known for its award-winning Biltong and British charcuterie products has exceeded all expectations with their crowdfunding campaign which launched on the 12th of July 2021. With a crowdfunding target of £800,000, Ember Snacks has raised over £1 Million from 286 investors. Its pre-valuation is set at £9.3 million based on the revenue seen by the company since launching in 2017.

Ember Snacks are on a mission to end factory farming and educate consumers on understanding the importance of provenance and traceability. Ember put restoring biodiversity on farms first, working directly with farmers who are committed to using high welfare and regenerative practices to improve soil health and encourage wildlife on their farms.

The latest raise will enable the team to dial up their activism with high profile marketing campaigns which highlight the issues surrounding factory farming. In addition to this, Ember will seek industry changes in food labelling to ensure claims like ‘grass fed’ are actually 100% grass fed. Ember also plans to grow their distribution in major UK supermarkets with three new listings, adding to their 2,000 distribution points across the UK, including Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. Using funds to activate these points, Ember aims to increase their current sales of over £1.75m in 2020 (+59% growth year on year), adding to their current sales statistics having sold 1 million portions in the last 12 months.

Innovation is key and Ember plan to continue to innovate, launching world firsts and continue creating and launching products that are not only healthier for people to eat but are also better for our planet.

Following the success of their new charcuterie product launch earlier this year, the investment will solidify the brand’s expansion plans and allow them to expand their team. Founded three years ago by brothers, Harry and Jack Mayhew who grew up on their family farm in Suffolk, Ember Snacks make a range of Biltong and Charcuterie, crafted right here in the UK. Ember put restoring biodiversity on farms first – with no nutrients destroyed, no cooped-up animals and no unnecessary carbon emissions.
