In this new role, Neilson will be responsible for shaping and driving the technology roadmap and collaborate with key stakeholders on architecture for Ocean Bottle.

After 25 years scaling product development teams through phases of hyper-growth, the tide has pulled him to the golden shores of Ocean Bottle, ready to drive automation across the business as it scales.

Prior to joining Ocean Bottle, Neilson led the tech team at Wefarm for over 6 years. During his tenure, he drove the roadmap to empower 3.5 million small scale farmers across East Africa to improve their livelihoods, creating a solution to help tackle the challenges facing humanity as a result of climate change and food scarcity.  

Neilson will work with Ocean Bottle’s current Platform team to define the Product vision and roadmap, as well as identifying technology and hiring needs to achieve the Company’s mission. His technological expertise will also allow the impact Company to utilise tech for good, spearheading its progress towards preventing 7 billion plastic bottles from entering the ocean by 2025. 

Current projects include the development of Ocean Bottle’s proprietary impact ledger, which gives companies and individuals full transparency on their funding, including information on the country where the plastic collection took place and number of collectors involved.

A strong believer in moving fast and bringing business impact through collaboration, openness and data, Neilson brings a wealth of experience and strong leadership to Ocean Bottle as it enters its next phase of growth.
