Free Hand Sanitiser: A Goodwill Gesture from a Tech Start-up

A Birmingham-based nutrition business is producing and distributing free hand sanitiser to all of its customers, as much of the UK deals with a severe shortage of hygiene products.

Despite limited resources and a significantly reduced workforce, Nourished, a personalised vitamin start-up has spent the past week sourcing ingredients and making up bottles in its certified production lab, in a bid help its customers prevent the spread of COVID-19. The 'Outer Defence' hand sanitiser has a minimum alcohol content of 60%, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Founder and CEO of Nourished, Melissa Snover, launched the initiative as a way to give something practical and helpful back the brand’s customers, who are feeling the effects of the current global health crisis.

She comments: “During this uncertain time, we are doing everything we can to support our community. As a thank you gesture to all new and existing customers, we will be sending a free bottle of hand sanitiser in every single order until there is no longer a need. We hope this serves to help our customers who can't find it elsewhere or who can't afford the crazy inflated prices.”

“In such turbulent times, it is essential that we work together – more so than ever before. We hope our 'Outer Defence' bottles of antibacterial hand sanitiser contribute positively.”

Nourished is also distributing gift boxes of free immunity-boosting vitamins and hand sanitiser to valued customers to help them stay protected during these turbulent times. In addition, the team have reached out to local care homes and NHS hospitals within their community in Birmingham to offer free nutritional products, to help those most vulnerable and on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As well as helping its customers and community, the company is bringing in extensive measures to prevent the spread of the virus within its team and to safeguard the production process.

Using the company’s native 3D printing machinery, the team will be producing specialist 3D-printed masks with antimicrobial nano copper for all of its staff. These high-tech masks have been proven to be more sustainable than comparable N95 or N99 masks, which are currently available.

Snover continues: “As a certified food production business, the team at Nourished HQ are taking the rising threat of COVID-19 extremely seriously. The safety of our customers, team and community is our number one priority, and we are doing everything we can to support them during this time.

“Special COVID-19 protocols have been put in place to ensure that no one has to worry about contamination in any way, including contact-free deliveries and daily in-house health screenings.”
