Home Bargains to open new store in Bracknell, creating 90 new jobs with £1M Investment

Home Bargains has invested approximately £1 million in its new store in Bracknell, which will be officially opened at 8.00am on Saturday 26 February 2022.

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 90 new jobs in the local community with its store in Skimped Hill Lane. In total, the store will employ 92 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from other local stores.

The retailer will also be donating £2,000 to The British Dyslexia Association in Bracknell. The Association has been the voice of dyslexic people over the past 50 years, working to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia-friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential.

Gillian Ashley, chief executive at The British Dyslexia Association, said: “We are extremely grateful to the new Bracknell branch of Home Bargains for very kindly choosing The British Dyslexia Association to receive this donation. The money donated by the store means that we will be able to do more to support people of all ages affected by dyslexia and help bring closer to reality a dyslexia-friendly society for all. We’ll be able to support more children in education and employees in the workplace and to increase public understanding of the challenges — and benefits — of dyslexia. On behalf of The British Dyslexia Association and those whom the money will benefit, thank you again to all the staff at the Bracknell store.”

The new Bracknell store will join over 575 Home Bargains outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Jatinder Hundal, the new Bracknell store manager, said: “I started my Home Bargains journey eight years ago as lead salesperson in Southall and worked my way up to store manager across a number of different locations. Having been store manager in Hounslow for the past three years, I’m excited to be part of the team at the new Bracknell store.

“There’s nothing quite like the buzz of opening a new store. A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into the new site and I can’t wait to open its doors this weekend alongside such a fantastic team. I am exceptionally proud of everyone.”

The 17,513 sq. ft store, which formerly housed Next, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Hundal added: “Skimped Hill Lane will be a great location for us, and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

With more than five million customers each week, Home Bargains is one of the country’s best-loved discount retailers, stocking top-quality branded goods at low prices.
