Nuffield Health launches new Menopause Advice Hub

In light of this year’s World Menopause Day, Nuffield Health has launched its Menopause Advice Hub, featuring a range of resources designed to support individuals experiencing perimenopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal symptoms.

The content hub provides resources on all aspects of menopause, from the physical and mental symptoms as well as advice on talking about the topic with professionals, friends and family and in the workplace.

With 94 per cent of individuals going through menopause saying they would benefit from society being more open to conversations, Nuffield Health is keen to build confidence and normalise the conversation around the menopause.

Among the resources available in Nuffield Health’s Menopause Advice Hub are informational content on symptoms and treatments, advice around self-care behaviours and even online workouts designed to help individuals to adopt healthy habits to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

The advice hub also offers advice for employers and employees on managing menopause in the workplace in Nuffield Health’s Not just ‘women’s issues’ webinar. This expert panel discussion includes advice on starting conversations, developing healthy habits and establishing helpful corporate policies.

This comes as a recent Nuffield Health’s 2022 ‘Healthier Nation Index’ revealed over three-quarters of respondents would not feel comfortable speaking to their employer about a menopause-related issue.

Similarly, only three percent of women would trust health advice on menstrual and menopausal issues from their employers and nine in 10 UK adults are not offered any menopause training or policies in their place of work.

Nuffield Health’s workplace advice aims to challenge this trend, equipping employees with the confidence and knowledge and businesses with the expert advice to create relevant policies that mitigate the impact of menopausal symptoms on individuals in the workplace.

Gosia Bowling, national lead for emotional wellbeing at Nuffield Health commented:

“Nuffield Health has long aimed to support menopausal individuals with advice and formal recommendations, and we’re delighted to bring these together in our new Menopause Advice Hub. Reducing stigma, driving normalisation and encouraging conversations is not only key to helping those experiencing the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause but also for businesses to retain and better support employees.

“According to Nuffield Health’s research, 20 percent of women have had time off work due to menopause symptoms and one-third of women (34 per cent) have needed health advice for menstrual issues or issues around menopause. This Figure rises to 43 per cent for women aged between 45 and 54.

“These are employees who are at the top of their game and we need to retain this talent. With one in four menopausal individuals considering giving up their roles due to menopause side-effects, it’s important businesses create offerings based on learnings and research to create an environment that recognises these experiences and provides the right support to enable them to thrive and reach their full potential”
