Cranfield and Santander Universities have renewed their long-standing partnership for an additional three years.

Santander Universities has supported students at the University for over eight years, providing bursaries and financial support for course fees. The success has provided life-changing opportunities and experiences for the beneficiaries. The funding will continue to support education, employability, and entrepreneurship.

Matt Hutnell, Director, Santander Universities UK, commented: “Santander is committed to supporting higher education, as well as local communities across the UK. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Cranfield University for a further three years to ensure we can work together in providing even more opportunities which will benefit both students and the local community, particularly during this challenging time.”

The funding from Santander will be used for bursaries to support women studying STEM subjects, support international research trips for students, opportunities to undertake internships in small and medium-sized companies and provide grants for student start-up companies. They will develop their entrepreneurial skills with the established and successful programmes Cranfield University provides.

Karen Holford, Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield University, said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support of Santander. Their generosity will help us support and mentor more students, including those who have additional financial pressures brought about by the pandemic.”

Santander Universities UK has donated over £95 million to support more than 117,000 students into higher education or work and now has 86 university partners.
