Ks Wors Boerewors

Sausages are yet another food arena that have been devoid of real imagination for some while now, a too often overlooked food category struggling within today’s healthier living agenda, a food aisle that’s too frequently pigeonholed as an ‘everyday commodity,’ or worse still, old-school junk food.

This is a food arena where ‘private label’ has historically ruled the roost, championing the same regional classics that have dominated the modern processed meat fixture for ever and a day:
The herby Lincolnshire, the hearty Cumberland, the sage-infused Gloucester…..

Delight Mapasure’s specialist subject is award-winning, Southern African inspired boerewors. For those not in-the-know, boerewors are a premium orientated yet coarsely cut, meaty sausage, (92% meat content) made from a heavily seasoned blend of beef, lamb and pork.

This is a sausage so heavily prized on the African continent that its recipe make-up is closely guarded by South African law.

The emergence of Dee’s K’s Wors boerewors has taken place at a time when an open-minded appreciation of world cuisine resonates louder than ever.
This is a young, exotic sausage portfolio that comes in 4 deliciously distinct flavours: Countrystyle, Chilli, Chilli & Garlic and Chakalaka.

Ks Wors is a young, Manchester-produced sausage proposition that has taken its time to establish a proud, regional following (Manchester)whilst securing an impressive clutch of 3 prestigious Great Taste Awards and two highly sought after National Sausage Week accreditations.

This is a young brand that has already faced bleak financial times yet still somehow managed to fight back from the brink, courtesy of some assistance from a benevolent Fredericks Foundation that offers financial support to fledgling businesses who’ve not only fallen upon hard times but been ostrasized by the traditional banking community.

In 2018 K’s Wors was even featured on the BBC’s Matter of Life & Debt Series which looked at the abundance of young, ‘hopeful’ brands that are simply unable to secure any meaningful financial support from the mainstream banks.

Roll on a year and a successful pitch during the 2018 Bread & Jam festival has led in a nationwide Ocado listing, an invitation to join the NatWest’s regional small business accelerator scheme (Manchester region) and the possibility of Booths, Costco & Supervalu listings to be in place for the 2020 BBQ season.
