Arbuthnot Latham champions UK innovation with Head of Entrepreneurs appointment

Arbuthnot Latham and Co., Ltd. (“Arbuthnot Latham”), the private and commercial bank, is bolstering its offering to entrepreneurs by hiring John Hilson as Head of Entrepreneurs, Private Banking.

In his new role, John and his team will work with entrepreneurs across a range of sectors offering high-touch, relationship-based banking that Arbuthnot Latham is known for.

From inception through to life after exit, the dedicated team provides discrete, valuable and qualified advice and John’s expertise will further the team’s offering, with his extensive experience within the private banking sector.

John has worked alongside entrepreneurs since 2002 and is well versed in how to best support them as they grow their businesses.

John joins Arbuthnot Latham from Hampden & Co plc, where he was a Business Development Director and built strategic partnerships with private client advisors. He has proven experience in overseeing and delivering private banking services and managing large portfolios of clients.

Last year, Arbuthnot Latham bolstered its client proposition by aligning its business units to client segments, including Entrepreneurs, as well as Executives & Professionals, International, Commercial Banking, Real Estate, and Media (private and commercial).

John’s appointment is a key part of that transformation and builds on the strong foundations the private banking business has already laid in delivering an excellent client experience.

Helen Keen, Head of UK Private Banking, said: “After joining the firm in April this year, my focus has been on hiring talented individuals in key areas to strengthen our client proposition and align our business solutions.”

“John’s appointment is further demonstration of our commitment to talent acquisition and retention within private banking at Arbuthnot Latham, and we are delighted to have someone with his experience and expertise to head up the Entrepreneurs division of the bank to further our offering in that client segment.”

John Hilson, Head of Entrepreneurs Private Banking, said: “Arbuthnot Latham is at such an exciting time in its growth journey, with the bank expanding and evolving at such a pace.”

“I am excited to work with entrepreneurs throughout their journey, from early-stage start-ups right through to business owners who are looking to exit from their business, and I am looking forward to meeting with new and existing clients within this space, aiding in the exceptional, personalised service that the bank offers.”

“I am proud to be leading such an experienced team whose hard work has been recognised with an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ at the City of London Wealth Management Awards for its contribution to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Under my leadership, we will continue to work hard as I aim to make Arbuthnot Latham the bank of choice for all UK entrepreneurs and SMEs.”
