Meet the thriving digital marketing agency, whose owners have never met

A start-up digital marketing agency has recently marked its first year of operations, during which time it has amassed over 80 client wins, and grown from two team members to seven.

The success of the agency, Dream Digital, has been founded on agile working, with all staff based at home. This includes the two founders - Georgie Thomas and Curt Blunt - who were originally introduced to one another online, and to date have never actually met one another. Exchanges are instead carried out via phone, WhatsApp and Teams.

Georgie is based in Harlow, Essex, and is a former schoolteacher and freelance marketing consultant. Curt, from Wolverhampton, was previously an academy trust IT manager. Their clients cover a range of sectors including charities, education, construction, recruitment, security, sport and fitness.

The wider Dream Digital team now includes specialists in social media, website design and development, and graphic design.

Georgie said: “My dream job was always to design and build websites, so when I was e-introduced to Curt, it felt like the time was right to take the plunge. Despite having never met, we feel we have been a great team since day one, and I wouldn’t have it any other way now.

“We find communicating and working online just as beneficial as if we were to meet in-person, and of course we’re saving on office and travel costs in the process. It’s such a bonus being our own bosses, including working flexibly, and getting the opportunity to partner with a wide variety of different businesses and people.”

Curt said: “Georgie and I put everything into our business including long days, long nights, blood, sweat, tears and laughs. We’ve had it all, and the hard work and dedication is definitely helping us grow fast and becoming successful. To date we have retained all our clients, so we’d like to think we’re definitely doing something right.

“We ensure we make time for all our clients, and are always at the end of the phone or a WhatsApp message, so we know we’re doing the best possible job. It’s been a very welcome surprise to see the power of word of mouth and positive referrals help us get to the position we’re in now.

“We’re now intent on taking on additional team members, to further support our clients. By working closely alongside them, to help deliver their aims and ambitions, we will further improve their online presence as well as their bottom line.”
