QuizWhip, a startup online live quiz platform based in Manchester, has seen its 3,000 players since the launch of the weekly quizzes in May this year.

QuizWhip is a new series of online pub quizzes that players can play at home to compete with others across the UK for prizes. The startup was launched in May 2020 to support those in self-isolation, and in the national lockdown, who wanted to socialise with friends online in new and different ways.

Players watch an interactive quiz host on an online live stream, but their answers are submitted through their custom-built quiz platform which auto marks and announces the winners.

In the brand’s infancy, they launched a number of general knowledge quizzes to raise money for NHS Charities Together, raising over £150 in a small number of weeks. Since then, the brand has continued to host charity fundraising quizzes for LGBT charities in Pride season and on Wednesday 7th October, they are hosting a quiz to raise support and donations for Yorkshire-based charity, Ben’s Music Foundation.

They have also launched a number of free and themed quizzes including Star Wars, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Harry Potter and Friends.

Joshua Hobson, the founder, says: “We are a nation of quiz lovers. It’s been great to see a huge number of players since our launch in May, especially our 3,000th milestone, and it’s been fantastic to support those who are feeling lonely or distanced from their friends and family during this difficult time, even now we’re out of the national lockdown.

“The brand and platform are all custom built and our team is constantly improving and making iterations to the quiz tool, ready to continue hosting online quizzes through the winter and beyond.”
