Emma – The Sleep Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Andreas Westendoerpf as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The experienced technologist plans to establish a new IT platform to support the Frankfurt-based company in becoming the leading international Sleep Tech company. Andreas took on his role effectively on 1 October 2020.

Before joining Emma, Andreas worked as CTO and Managing Director of Engel & Voelkers  Technology GmbH for three years, where he was responsible for the development and restructuring of the group's internal tech company. Prior to this, the computer scientist worked for the online retailer Zalando and spent almost ten years in international management consulting, most notably at KPMG. In each of his previous roles, the 39-year old's focus was on technology and the people involved. Above all, he is concerned with the question of how to set up and scale organizational structures to ultimately achieve success through intrinsically motivated team members. Andreas is now eager to bring this experience to Emma.

"My motivation is to experience growth – in business terms as well as in the personal development of people. What I find especially exciting about Emma, is that agility, ambition and diversity are woven into the cultural DNA of the company. Emma fulfils all the prerequisites for achieving its very challenging goals – and now the next logical step is to improve their tech. I am also convinced by Emma's guiding principle: improving sleep through technology, one night at a time," emphasized Westendoerpf.

In his role as CTO, he sees himself as the central interface between digital technology and the teams of the founder-managed company: "My goal is to make technological expertise available in every team so that ultimately Emma's customers are offered the best products and services". To achieve this, the expert plans to connect and involve all parties active in the development of products.

"IT knowledge must not be limited to a few but should be integrated into all areas of the company. Each team should have the ability to implement algorithms itself and extract knowledge from data," Westendoerpf explained.

"Emma stands for technology and progress, both online and offline. It is essential to create IT supported structures for the further development of our company. Andreas Westendoerpf will anchor his expertise and vision in the Emma DNA and bring new impetus for the future,"  said Dr Dennis Schmoltzi, founder and CEO of Emma – The Sleep Company alongside Manuel Mueller.
