“Record, Connect, Compete, Repeat” capturing every workout by 2025: Tona launches this month

London-born, independent fitness platform, Tona, is delighted to announce its official release on the iOS App Store on Friday 14th December, promising to keep you, your friends and your family active - even over the festive period.

With the ambitious vision of capturing every workout by 2025, Tona is setting its sights on providing a revolutionary new platform to record and connect workouts in detail. With over 2,000 exercises to record from, Tona offers the largest exercise library on the market allowing you to record your progress whatever your workout preference. From yoga to HIIT, and spinning to strength training, Tona’s intelligent app lets you track calories, reps, time and load and can be supplemented by your heart rate and other wearables data. All in one place.

What makes Tona different from previous workout apps is that every rep, kg, calorie and exercise recorded from your workout recorded is automatically added into over a million different leaderboards. Allowing you to compete against yourself, your gym buddy, or the world. No matter your level.  A 2016 University of Pennsylvania Study found that competition led to gym users working out more by up to 90%! It is this competitive nature of people Tona aims to tap into to keep you motivated.

Users can share their own workouts and stats as well as follow any of Tona’s user community, just like Instagram. Where Tona differs from Instagram however is that it allows you to repeat anyone's workout, then displays your stats side by side to see how you compete. Get motivated and inspired by workouts from the community of personal trainers and fitness influencers and try to beat your friends.

What’s more is Tona also connects you to your gym. Allowing it to display live leaderboards for classes, fun exercise challenges, workouts of the day and more - all on your gym wall. See who's doing well, who needs encouragement and who needs to stop showing off.

Co-founder George Burton, explains why the team behind Tona took the entrepreneurial plunge;

“We are three close friends who are addicted to using run tracking apps such as Strava, Nike Running Club and Map my Run. Frustrated that we couldn’t find something similar for the gym workouts we also do, we decided to build one ourselves. ”

“Tona focuses on competition and social proof to keep users invested in their exercise, we enable users to take pride in and showcase their exercise. We want people to track their own progress and that of their friends, pushing each other to that next level”

“The 14th December launch date in the App Store is just the start for us. Expect the Tona community to grow quickly, and for our professional training solution, Tona Gym, to arrive in a studio near you soon!”

Free to download now and forever, Tona (www.tona.fit/) will be available on iOS platforms from the 14th December, with an Android version expected in theJanuary2019. Currently supporting Apple products including the Apple Watch, Tona plans to integrate with a wider range of Android-enabled wearable devices and beyond to allow a broader range of users to optimise their workout recordings.
